Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 August 2026
The short version
- We collect your name, email, phone number and your charging history — that is what an account needs to work.
- We do not track your location. The app never asks for it.
- The camera is used only to read a QR sticker on a charger. Images are never saved or sent anywhere.
- We do not take payments in the app and do not collect card details.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
The rest of this page sets all of that out in full.
1. Who we are
ChargeConnect is operated by MSM Seva Pty Ltd (ABN 90 676 386 717), referred to in this policy as “we”, “us” or “our”. We provide electric vehicle charging hardware and the ChargeConnect app, which lets you set up and manage a charger installed at your home.
The ChargeConnect mobile apps are published on the App Store and Google Play by Keshavraj Corporation Pty Ltd on behalf of MSM Seva Pty Ltd. MSM Seva Pty Ltd operates the service and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Name | To identify your account and address you correctly in support requests. |
| Email address | To sign you in and to contact you about your charger or your account. |
| Phone number | To contact you about a charging session or a fault with your charger. |
| Password | To secure your account. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash — we cannot read yours. |
| Site or installation address | Where you have a charger installed, so we can identify and service the unit. |
Information created when you use your charger
- Which charger you used, and when a session started and finished.
- Energy delivered and session duration.
- Technical readings reported by the charger during a session — voltage, current, power and temperature.
- The connection state of your charger, so the app can show whether it has power and whether a vehicle is plugged in.
We use this to show you your charging history and to diagnose faults with a charger.
If you sign in with Apple or Google
You may create an account using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. When you do, we receive your name and email address from that provider, together with a unique identifier for your account with them. We do not receive your password, and we do not gain access to anything else in your Apple or Google account. If you use Apple's “Hide My Email”, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.
Technical information
Our servers keep standard logs, including your IP address, the date and time of a request, and basic device and app version information. We use these for security, fault diagnosis and fraud prevention.
What we deliberately do not collect
- Location. The app does not request or collect your device location, and does not track your movements.
- Photographs or camera images. The app uses the camera solely to read a QR code printed on a charger. That happens on your device, frames are never stored, and nothing is transmitted to us.
- Payment or card details. The app does not take payments, and we do not collect, process or store card numbers or bank details.
- Advertising identifiers. We do not run ads and do not use advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers.
- Contacts, calendar, photos, microphone or health data.
3. How we use your information
- To create and administer your account.
- To start and stop charging sessions, and to record them.
- To provide support and to investigate faults with your charger.
- To keep the service secure and to detect and prevent misuse.
- To meet our legal obligations.
- To send service messages about your account or your charger. These are not marketing.
We will only send you marketing where you have opted in, and every marketing message includes a way to unsubscribe. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
4. Who we share information with
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only with:
- Apple and Google — where you choose to sign in using their services.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers — who store data on our behalf under contract.
- Our installers and service technicians — where a visit is needed to install or repair your charger.
- Professional advisers, or a regulator or law enforcement body — where we are required or authorised by law.
Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
5. How long we keep it
- Account information — while your account is open, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Charging records — while your account is open, so your history stays available to you.
- Installation and warranty records — for as long as we are required to keep them for warranty and safety purposes.
- Technical logs — a short period, for security and diagnosis.
When we no longer need personal information and are not required to keep it, we delete it or de-identify it.
6. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes and cannot be recovered by us or by our staff. Access to production systems is limited to personnel who need it. Your sign-in token is held in the secure storage provided by your device's operating system.
No system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
7. Your rights
You may, at any time:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate or out of date.
- Delete your account yourself, at any time, from within the app under Account → Delete account. This removes your account and personal details immediately — see how to delete your account for exactly what is deleted and what is kept.
- Ask us to delete your account and your personal information, subject to records we are legally required to keep.
- Withdraw consent to marketing.
- Make a complaint about how we have handled your information.
Contact us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable period, and ordinarily within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
8. Children
ChargeConnect is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Where a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
